Chief Volunteer Service Award
Veteran's Administration Hospital
Houston, Texas
March 24, 1954
Clyde Robert Axtell, Jr. was awarded the honor of being named the chief
volunteer among veterans due to his work within the hospital while a patient there, and
because his letter to Lyndon B. Johnson, Senator from Texas and later President of the
United States, had been instrumental in the enactment of a bill making all government
and public buildings accessible for wheelchair occupants. |
